1. Spray muffin pan with non-stick cooking spray.
2. Preheat oven to 350 F.
3. Add unsalted butter and white sugar to mixing bowl.
4. Beat until combined.
5. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
6. Add flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, ground cloves, and salt to large bowl. Stir to combine.
7. Add dry ingredients to creamed butter and sugar, alternately with applesauce.
8. Mix just until combined.
9. Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full.
10. Bake 20-25 minutes.
11. Remove muffin pan to wire rack.
12. Transfer muffins to wire rack.
